Lots of applications feature an undo feature that comes in quite handy. Messed something up? Use the undo function to erase your mistake. Even the Windows operating system features an undo function. Hit Ctrl + Z, the keyboard associated with Undo, and you will be able to undo recent operations in Windows Explorer, operations moving a file, pasting a file, deleting a file, and renaming a file.

Useful as it is, the undo function in Windows Explorer isn’t useful enough. And this is where AlomWare’s aptly named Undo application comes in. It can undo lots of actions: restore closed applications, documents, or folders; restore text after having pasted new text onto it; undo changes to deleted or saved documents.

While AlomWare Undo is up and running, it records your desktop. Don’t worry, this is a good thing. It means that you can see everything that happened for the last two hours. It means that you can look back at what happened on your PC and undo any unwanted changes. Click the icon in the system tray to pause the recording process. Manage recorded screenshots and history data as you see fit.

The steps you must go through to install AlomWare Undo on a Windows PC are presented in the Quick Look video that accompanies this article. When you’re done with the installation and you launch AlomWare Undo for the first time, you will be asked to pick a keyboard shortcut for the undo function. I went with Shift + Ctrl + Z; you can choose any combination you want.

A prompt will show up and inform you that AlomWare Undo is not free software, that the trial is for private, home use only, and that you need to enter a license code. If you don’t purchase a license, you can enter the day’s trial code.

The undo function is great for undoing various mistakes. And AlomWare Undo is great for putting this type of functionality at our disposal.

Pros

Easily install AlomWare Undo on a PC that runs Windows XP or newer. Choose a custom hotkey for the undo function. Use AlomWare Undo to undo closed documents, restore text, and so on. AlomWare Undo records your desktop so you can take a look back in time and undo changes.

Cons

Trial limitations: nag screen. Unless you purchase a license and enter the code, you’ll have to enter the day’s trial code – every day.
